Canada Toronto has put into lockdown as infection soar

  Toronto, Canada's largest city, was placed into lockdown for 28 days on Friday, with officials shutting shops, businesses and restaurants and banning indoor gatherings to curb a growing spike in   Covid-19   cases. The lockdown will begin on Monday in the city and in Peel, a part of the Greater Toronto to the west of the city center. Indoor social gatherings or events that include members of different households will be banned, and outdoor gatherings will be limited to no more than 10 people, Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced. "We cannot afford a province-wide lockdown, so we are taking preventative action today by moving Toronto and Peel into lockdown level restrictions," he said. "We need to take decisive action to stop the spread of this deadly virus." A husband and in law has been sentenced to three years in prison for killing his wife

A Chinese court made a rare move to calm public outrage this week over a controversial murder case   involving a young woman killed by her husband and in-laws. The 22-year-old Chinese woman had only been married for six months when her husband and in-laws beat her to death, because she had been unable to conceive a child, according to state-run news agency  Xinhua. The woman, identified by court documents only by her surname Fang, was from China's eastern Shandong province. She died   on January 31, 2019, according to the Xinhua report.  Yucheng People's Court in Shandong heard the woman's husband and in-laws abused her, denied her food, and left her outside in freezing temperatures in winter as a form of punishment.  In January, they were found guilty of abuse, a charge applied when the alleged perpetrators are family members. It carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.

ENDSARS: Oyo sets up N500 Million fund each for youth entrepreneurs, compensation for victims of police brutality

  Oyo State Government has directed that a N500 million MSME fund be set up to fund youth entrepreneurs in the State with bright business ideas This was  disclosed  by Governor Seyi Makinde while speaking at the Post-Protest Meeting with Traditional Rulers and other Stakeholders, held at Agodi, Ibadan. According to the Governor, the fund will provide further employment and improve the economic landscape in Oyo State. FG release N25 billion fund for youth for Financially support

The Federal Government has created a N25 billion Youth Fund to address the #EndSARS protests and other related youth restiveness in Nigeria. This was disclosed by the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, on Saturday, at a stakeholder meeting with the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, in Kaduna, according to Punch. The meeting is in compliance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to ministers and governors to dialogue with stakeholders following the #EndSARS protests. The minister explained that the fund would be increased to N75 billion within a period of three years. According to her, the aim was to support youths to actualise their innovative and entrepreneurial ideas in growing their businesses and becoming self-reliant.

FG’s MSME Survival fund in Kano state

The MSME Survival Fund is one of the Federal Government’s economic support measures designed to assist micro and small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Payroll Support Scheme is aimed at MSMEs adversely affected by the pandemic. The scheme will provide payroll support to a maximum of 10 employees per qualifying MSME. The sheme is being implemented through the Bank of Industry and other relevant agencies. Mr Auwalu Danhajiya, Chairman, Kano State chapter of the National Association of Tailors, said that most of the tailors who registered under the scheme had received N30,000 grant from the federal government.
